I got two choices.
Ok, so a tad bit of background.
I already have an associates degree in Technology. It was from a technical college. I pretty much started going to prove to myself that I was far more intelligent than some previous bosses I had. Turns out I actually liked school.
Now the choices.
I have a choice to go to a state college to get a bachelor's degree in Multi-media or something. I would be able to get it in only two years, instead of four because my technical school and the state college has an agreement sharing thing, I don't know the technical terms is.
The other choice is to go to a community college, which only offers Associate degrees. However they have classes I really want and probably would enjoy and probably thrive in.
So, which one do I do? With a bachelor's degree I can travel over seas and teach English to children, and get paid for it.
But with the Associates degree from the community college, I can then go on to other colleges with a similar set that my previous school and the state school has. It just means to make the community college pay off, it would take a whole lot more schooling.
For additional details, the Associates in Technology with a specialty in Video Broadcast production and Tech, along with an Audio Engineer certificate. Fancy, right?
The Bachelor's would probably be in multi-media with a focus on video and animation. I do enjoy animation, but it's more of a hobby interest, since I don't have real skills for it.
Now for the community college choice. My big interest is in history, archeology and evolutionary/physical/forensic anthropology. The community college has a very good anthropology department, with archeology, which is flipping awesome. However, to make the degree actually useful I would need to get a bachelor's degree to just pretend to be in a field that requires it. A masters could really help me get a pretty fancy job. And, of course, a doctorate would get me some pretty nice job prospects, sort of. Of course a career in history, archeology and anthropology, even forensic anthropology, is a bit limited.
So what do you think? Which should I get?

Well, you really can't do anything with a bachelors in Anthro. You really need a Masters at minimum to do anything in the Social Science world. However if you really are interested in it, I would suggest going to the University and taking a minor or possibly a dual major in Anthro alongside your multimedia program. If you minor in it at least, you will probably find plenty of graduate programs that would be willing to take you in if you have a good gpa and some letters of recommendation.
The problem with that is I would have to commute over an hour each way, in a car, to attend a university, but with an Associates in Anthropology I then would be able to go get a Bachelor's in only two years, and move on to a master's. So I can see if I actually do enjoy anthropology and archeology.
Commuting to school is not fun at all! I was in an opposite situation, I used to live 45 minutes away from my old community college, though now (I moved to a different part of the state) I live about 15 minutes away by bike from my university campus. Being far from school is a pain, it's really hard to make friends and connect to the campus community.
