I hate being touched by strangers and the feeling of the clippers on the back of my neck. I also hate the sound of scissors cutting my hair it actually hurts to hear it. When I tell people this people think I am exaggerating. I have not cut my hair since 92' and i keep it in a ponytail that goes down to the center of my back. Anyone else with type of problem or am I extra freaky.

The drill sargeants would save me for last to get my head shaved . They got a kick out the faces I made and how much I squirmed. They told me they would have a doctor come to give me a shot so I could sleep through the hair cut if they could get away with it. At least they showed some merci.

I didn't get a haircut, of any kind, from about Nov 1989 to May 2003.

Since then, I pretty much just shave it all off myself about once a year.

You are not extra freaky. You're not even any freakier than me.

I hate getting my haircut because the people who cut my hair cut it to short when i tell them not to. >:I my hair was past my elbows and it was getting really hard to keep up with so i decided to get it a little big longer then shoulder length, and the stupid hair dresser cut it SHORTER then shoulder length. I hate getting it cut, im going to grow it out again and not get it cut, maybe just trimmed every couple of years.

I wish I could do that. But my hair needs to be trimmed or else its so heavy I can't hold my head up properly... I'd rather cut my own hair than let someone else my moms pick wreck it like last time.

Yeah, my technique for hair cutting for the last 6-7 years is to gather it under the chin, and cut off what sticks out below my hand. At one point I just let it go until it was waist-length, but that got to be too much work to deal with.

I hate the giant-spider-crawling-on-my-head feeling when someone else cuts it.

I've cut my own hair for years. I see no point in paying someone else to do it when it's easier and faster to just do it myself. If I wanted a particular style outside my abilities then I'd go get a haircut, but I don't really do styles. I don't much care how my hair looks, especially now that I'm wearing hats almost constantly.

Edit to add that when I did used to go get haircuts I was always afraid that they'd cut that thing on the back of the neck, base of the head that sticks out when you bend your head forward. Sorry, I have no idea if it's your spine or what, I don't know body parts. But anyway, I was always afraid of it getting severed when someone else cut my hair.

How interesting. I don't like scratchy things touching my skin but I'm okay with anything soft, I guess. I actually really like having my hair played with in the salon, although maybe not the cutting part so much. It trances me out, always has. But my hair cuts have always come out miserable so I tend to do it myself or have friends help every few years.

I stopped having my hair cut at about 15 (which in those days was fashionable), but it was a battle with my folks who were extremely conservative and hated the 'hippie' look.

By my thirties, I started cutting it again and kept it pretty short for about 15 years, thinking a more conservative look would help my career advancement. Of course now I realize that was stupid, because it wasn't my hair or my wardrobe holding me back, it was the strangeness of being (unDXd) Autistic that put people off.

Eventually, I just decided FTW and stopped cutting it again. Now I get the ends trimmed once a year. When the ponytail starts slapping me in the back during a workout, I know it's time for the annual haircut. :geek:

I worked with a girl once whose hair fell all the way to her ankles. Sexy.

I find haircuts the most unbelievably awkward of awkward social encounters. It is for this reason that I took to shaving my head periodically.

Although I don't particularly like haircut sessions, I really need haircuts every now and then because my hair tends to grow fast. I hate my hair getting long. My dad cuts my hair for me, and he does a pretty good job.

I shaved my head for most of last year. But now I'm letting my hair grow back, cause people were so mean to me. The only thing Utahns like less than a bald girl is a bald autistic girl.

I miss it though cause it was so very convenient and hygienic and saved so much money and time, to not have hair. I would do it again, if not for people's effed up attitudes. I get enough of that already.

I didn't cut my hair from '88 to '08, it got down past my buttocks.

I now cut my own hair, buzz cut, once a week.

I don't like being touched and there was always an unbearable tingling all down my spine when they would get the clippers any where near my ears but doing it myself, I don't feel that.

I cut my hair myself. Don't like going to the barber.

Yep. I look awful with short hair. It's just not me looking back in the mirror. I can't reconise myself after a haircut. I have to put my hair up in a pony tail for sensory reasons. I can't tolerate my hair in my face and need the pressure point in the back in just the right place so a haircut isn't anywhere in my future. My hair was once down to my butt because I refused to get my haircut. If I ever truely need a haircut again, I'll either go to my sister-in-law styleist or do it myself. Aside from my sister-in-law, I'd rather go to a dog groomer.
