In another thread someone said something that had me thinking about test in college. You know I do read the book, but whenever I get to the test, the test usually end up being about the information I disregarded as unimportant. Usually in the book the information that is bold, bullet pointed, and datelines are very important to me. Especially dates. Then I am asked questions that aren't any of these specifics. Worse off yet, is when I take notes I use the exact vocabulary definition from the book. However, the teacher's tend to not use the exact vocabulary. I think the worse is offender is when they make questions based on the commentary boxes, the ones I don't really like reading because it's blurbs of "did you know" and it's like why yes I already knew, so I don't read it.
Anyone else experience this? Is this just being obsessive over dates and bullet points? Or is this really synthesizing the info differently?
