I decided to head back to uni last year. I started a double major this year in Music Technology and Film. The big problem is I haven't really been able to make any real friends, which I thought would be easy given I would be surrounded by musos!

Part of the problem may be that I am a metalhead, and there don't appear to be that many metalheads in my course, it seems to be hardcore, hip-hop, drum n bass,

Another problem I seem to have is that I can almost never start a conversation, I only speak when spoken to.

If I can't make any friends here I am doomed! I have numerous acquantainces but they almost never message me unless their bands are playing and I am on the message list. HELP!

The more obsessed you are with making friends, the more people will see you as a man obsessed. Relax. I know it's easy to say and hard to do (I have the same problem as you do) but that's the way it works.
