I would like to know am I the only person who has ASD that took special math throughout school? I tried algerbra 1 but it was too difficult for me to try out. Whenever someone asks me what math class I take and I tell them they look at me and ask me if I was ret*d for taking that class. I had tried algerbra 1 for a semester and hated it I did not like the class and the students. Next year iam going back into a special modified class for my senior year. All school years I took the low math class while everyone else but a few people where in Algerbra 1 or Algerbra 2. People make fun of me for being stupid when I am in a lower math class so when someone ask me what math class that I took I always respond with I don't know. Am I the only one who is in some modified class?

I remember taking algebra, and my performance looked like this:

They put me in the "remedial" class, which may as well have had a sign on the door reading "CLASS FOR IDIOTS – TO ENTER, GRAB DOORKNOB, TURN AND PUSH."

On the upside, all the work was really easy.

I failed algebra several times, and just barely passed the remedial algebra class I took in 8th grade. Because I struggle with basic math I am being tested for a math learning disorder called Dyscalculia.

Well i would always start the year in the top class... then drop to the bottom within weeks

There would be a test every year that would recommend our class for the following year... it was more designed around how you got around the problems then what you could and could not do... i would pass this test with flying colours while my results through the year would get steadily worse with each exam... :?

During my freshman year in high school, I was placed in a double-blocked (meaning I took the class every day instead of every other day) algebra class as per request of one of my junior high math teachers.

Because I scored so lowly on my math acuplacer test for college, I was placed in a remedial algebra course during my first year of college. Because I sucked at it, I had to drop that course, but I'm still going to have to take it sooner or later if I ever want to obtain my Associate's Degree.

I was never strong at math, but I took the advanced math class at my school for grade 12 only (after having taken the non-academic class and received a 99%), and I scored a 96%. I do have a lot of difficulty remembering the concepts though. I have a great memory for taking things in and applying them exactly as I remember them to very similar questions the day of the test. I cannot break down the concepts and apply them differently. Also, despite that final grade which I was so happy about, if you were to give me the exact same work today (5 years later) without any instruction at all, I know I would fail.

I'm going to be taking AP Calculus starting this fall. I found Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Pre-calculus to be extremely easy. Geometry gave me hell though.

Seems like algebra 1-2 are more tedious then Trig., Trig. by no means was easy but was not as tedious. Possibly calc. 1 for me next semester. Really looking forward to physics. Looked at the serway principles of physics and liked what I read in the beginning chapters.
