My brother inspired me to make this topic!
Idk why, but for some reason starting in like March or April of 2010, the sound of doors slamming really started to bother me! I swear I never heard a door in my house slam before that, and it never occurred to me if it did. Noise always bothered me since I was a baby, but doors never did until last year.
My brother always slams his door for no apparent reason, it`s not like he`s always mad because when I see him a little while afterwards he seems fine to me. This happens especially when his window is opened, but I`ve been told that is normal for doors to slam when windows are opened because of the air pressure. But even sometimes when his window is closed he still does it on purpose but he doesn`t know it bothers me, and if I tell him then he might do it more frequently knowing it`s bothering me. Since last year I have just gotten so angry at him when he slammed his door! I started getting filled with rage as the sound plays over and over again in my head! I constantly dwell on it and I start talking s**t about him like I hate him when really we are very close. We`ve always gotten along for the most part, but of course there are times we did not. I don`t mean what I say it`s just that noise makes me irritable! It`s a sudden loud bang and I HATE those! I`ve even cried a few times when he did it! It always makes me wanna cry! But strangely enough I also wanna thank him because his door slamming and my reaction brought me to the conclusion that I may have AS. So I told my mom and we looked up the symptoms and then I realized I have most of the symptoms! So in a crazy way it`s because of my brother slamming his door that made me finally know the reason why I`ve been doing certain things since I was a little girl which is by looking up Asperger symptoms and reading most of my biography lol! Now I absolutely HATE the sound of every door slamming, not just my brother`s door, but that is the main one. BTW, my brother is NT and he`s 28.
So I was wondering if anyone else hates the sound of doors slamming too?

I also forgot to mention that the first time I thought I had AS was after seeing an episode of Arthur, and in the middle of the show a little girl hated loud noises and had to wear earmuffs. But then I forgot all about it for 5 months until September and after my brother kept slamming his door I remembered the Aspergers episode of Arthur again. That`s when I looked int it.

I live in an apartment complex amongst adults and you would not believe how much I hear door slamming. Especially my neighbors, whose door is just a couple of feet from mine. It caused a mirror to fall of the wall. I end up having fantasies of pushing them down the stairs or off the balcony... I get very evil about it.

Door slamming is one thing can lead me straight into a meltdown. I don't know why. It's just very jarring to my entire system.
