It should be truly taken seriously.

It really irks me when people say "I can take any classes I want", because they can always use law school as a fall back.

Law school is for people who work hard and prepare for it. Not for Political Science and History majors that last minute realize they need to do something useful for themselves.

Why should it be taken seriously?

If someone wants to study something for any reason they should be allowed to do so. That's all there is.

That's true only if someone else is footing the bill and cares not about what your income is when you go into the work world.

For everyone else, money doesn't grow off trees.

First of all, I agree people should be allowed to study whatever they wish. I never expressed otherwise.

Of course, law school is competitive (the industry is already glutted), with many people who prepared throughout their whole undergraduate experience for this. So, if one enters last minute, then they are at a disadvantage.
