So I'm 35 days from the basic competence test, a very important test for high school entrance. Now we eat workbooks for breakfast, papers for lunch and textbooks for dinner, literally and not so literally, if you know what I mean. I guess it's just something kids here have to stomach: nothing but schoolwork except (deprived) sleep and meals. I hope it gets better. Taiwan is currently under some educational reform madness that is just not working. Pressure is maximum as always, especially for those of us in the 99th percentile range. My mom threatens to commit suicide- seriously- if I do not get into the best high school for girls on the island, Taipei Municipal First Girls' High School.
Bye. I'm not really supposed to be on WP but this is the only period of time which I am free. Updates will be posted, watch out for the fireworks.

So much pressure on people so young is a crazy thing. I hope you do well in your exams!

This older lawyer once told me online, a change is as good as a break. Well . . . I like the idea. I don't know if I agree with him across the board in all cases, but, in a fair number of cases, sure, it works.

And I really like the idea of pre-studying, including the idea that even if a person is behind, go ahead and jump ahead anyway. I mean, pre-studying is cheating (just an entirely legal form of cheating!).

I kind of think time spent on both music and science may play off each other in a way good for both. And I remember the writer Stephen King talking about his early days and that he only sometimes had a medium amount of time to spend on his writing and that kind of made it more special.

Good luck with all your studies. :D

Thanks! I really want to attend the NYFA film acting intensive. Maybe that will bring about change.

Wow, that sounds pretty spectacular whether it leads to a big change or not. :D

Some actors and actresses are on the Asperger's-Autism Spectrum. For example, Daryl Hannah has publicly said she has Asperger's. She has also bravely engaged in civil disobedience against a pipeline, along with George Clooney and several other actors. And I think she smartly had backup for something like this. And I do think "being on the spectrum" gives a person a different set of skills which can sometimes play to strength and sometimes not, I guess like anything else. Now, the baseline numbers for acting or pretty much anything creative is a lot of talented people and only a modest number of jobs, and a lot of luck factors and external factors.

Instead of big change, my evolving method is medium step, observe feedback, another medium, etc. I know this might sound patently obvious, but it has helped me a lot. :nemo:

And of course, if there's anything better than acting it might be the practice of medicine. And in the studying, again, I think studying both art and science plays to the positive.
