Alright my folks are giving me a hard time about going to college to learn massage therapy because they say I could do better.

My arithmetic skills are poor so I would suffer in a profession that requires it. I cannot handle a NT employer's pace that will attempt to drill into me.I have work at my own speed or I get anxious.

I chose massage therapy because an employer cannot rush me or he becomes liable to hurt a client.

1. Before taking any college courses you first need to figure out what you really want to do with your life.

2. Have you looked into the vocational colleges? They can be cheaper, and they may have course offerings that are of more interest to you. Many of the careers they prepare people for involve doing work with your hands.

3. Have you considered self employment? There are many things you could do on your own, including some at your own rate, as long as you don't over book your schedule. Here are some ideas, but there are many others besides the ones listed below.

- Gardening and/or yard work.
- Handyman.
- Errand service.
- House cleaning.
- House/pet sitting.
- Turn a hobby into a money making opportunity.
- Cooking/catering service.
- Typing service.
- Computer maintenance/repair/refurb/building.
- Appliance repair.
- Various types of writing careers.

Use your imagination, and your interests.

I would think about what you like to do instead of how others would react. It seems like your main reason for choosing message therapy is because you don't like to get rushed. I think you would be better off taking personality tests, occupation tests online, etc. and see what sounds good and what comes up more often.

You all have provided excellent answers to my question.

I just hope I don't have problems with employers due to my personality and thinking.
