Any fear or anxiousness is normal. When you get there, you'll find it was about nothing. Others will likely feel the same, but won't share it

There's a whole new set of kids going in so you might meet some great friends. :)

It was similar to Year 7, but people are no longer scared to misbehave and talk back to teachers. You may also meet some new friends; long lasting ones. This too, is usually the year when children get to go on lots of school trips/outings.

Where we live it's 9th grade you change schools. It was a little nervous, but mainly exciting. New opportunities and the light at the end of the tunnel.

I found Year 8 was better than Year 7. MUCH better!
I was dreading Year 8 back in Year 7, but once I was a Year 8 I found it wasn't as bad as I thought. You're no longer one of the new ones. Not many major changes, just different classes. But it felt better because I was more confident and I knew more about the school and knew more things to expect! You'll be just fine in Year 8 once you've settled.

I'm going to be a Year 9 next year. I'm REALLY looking forward to it, but I am a bit apprehensive. It's perfectly normal to worry about the future. I know of neurotypicals who have experienced this feeling, and there's nothing wrong with that. :)

8th grade for me was horrible because I switched school districts. I went back to my old school for 9th grade and have been there ever since. I'm in 12th grade now.

I too moved school districts when moving up to year 8, and in hindsight it wasn't so awful. The anticipation of being somewhere new, with people I didn't know was a lot worse than the actual reality. Not everybody is going to have the same experience of course, but I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.

The best part of grade 8 for me was getting out of that horrible middle school and moving on to high school which wasn't great either but better than middle school. Sorry about the lack of enthusiasm. The only advice I can give you is try to make friends in the first couple of weeks in school.
