This is super embarrassing, but my college suite toilet won't unclog. It's been doing this since the beginning of the semester, but I've been able to unclog it easily with a plunger and occasionally dish washing soap. I have no other chemicals to pour in like bleach or baking powder like it says on the internet. The plunger is not working. I even found a wire clothes hanger and tried to use it, but I think the clog is all the way at the bottom of the "s" and it's not reaching that far down. I can't boil water.

The worst part is that I'm in a two room suite and the person who shares my bathroom is right on the other side (room-bathroom-room). I hardly know her but she's there and she can hear that I've been trying to unclog this for the past hour or so and she's also heard me unclogging toilets in the past so this is really embarrassing. I hate using the toilet when other people are around- it's embarrassing for me even when things go right.

This isn't like a normal college toilet that is really powerful. In my dorm, all of the rooms and suites have their own toilets, so they're a bunch of cheap ones and so I think (hope) that it's normal for them to clog easily.

UGH. Does anyone know what to do?

I'd tell whoever was in charge of the dorm that someone needs to come unclog it.

Unfortunately there's no one here right now because it's past midnight.

Are there other facilities nearby that you can use until they can fix it in the morning?

Yes, that's not a problem. The problem is having a suitemate. If I had my own bathroom, I wouldn't care, but since I have to share, I really want to fix it.

If it's a large enough college or university, there might be nighttime personnel available to handle emergencies. But most likely, even if they did, they would probably just wait until morning anyway.

Yeah, I guess I might have to wait until the morning. Thanks for your suggestions though.

In the three cases I've had of toilets that would clog it was due to something further down the pipe that was stuck. A plastic snowglobe, a Duplo man, a plastic razor. The fact your having to unclog it now and again suggests this is the case, sometimes the toilet has to be removed.

Don't be embarrassed, thats what Plumbers do all day, deal with toilets and pipes.

The worst clogs I've seen were tree roots and kitchen grease.

There should be an emergency maintenance number. Ironically at our school it's the same number as the police.

They have staff on duty 24/7 to fix issues like that.

Since it's the day time, just call the regular maintenance people.

Maintenance should come fix it. Even though it is the middle of the night, they have people on call. Emergencies happen and they are used to that.
