I have found that my social interaction with adults is tremendously more successful than with individuals around the same age as me (the age of those typically entering college for the first time).

Does anyone find this to be so as well?

Yes, not only when I attended classes at university, but also in grade school.

Yes I've always gotten along better with those older than me including mostly dating those 8-15 yrs older than me. I always thought it had to do with the older a person the more mature they are and the less likely they are to pick on someone weaker (ie:Aspies because we seem to have a neon sign above our heads that says insult & abuse me).

I am 27 and a college student, so those two groups would likely overlap for me.

That's why I added in parentheses

Quote:
(the age of those typically entering college for the first time)

I could be wrong though. The statistics could say that is its typical for more adults to attend college, maybe through continuing education, than persons in their late teens through early twenties.

You must understand though, I come from the standpoint of someone just out of highschool. I apologize for any agism. But any agism in this case would be agism biased in /your/ favor.

I've always gotten along better with adults. I'd much rather sit and have a conversation with my professors than with a peer. Professors will talk about geeky things- peers will talk about pop culture. I'll pick a conversation centered around geeky topics any time...

How do you define adults/college age individuals. I'm college age, but I'm also legally an adult.

In my previous post, I should have said "older adults" instead of adult. I think that at 19 I might be a legal adult myself.

When I was in college, it seemed to be just as easy talking to my fellow students that it was talking to professors. However, I majored in computer science, where there were a lot of students with interests similar to mine, and some even could have had AS too. So overall, I had the benefit of hanging out with people from my class, where we would help each other out with assignments, talk about computers, and make geeky jokes that only other computer science people could understand.

Well, at university I don't get along with anyone, regardless of their age. They all either seem hostile or uninterested, in one way or another. On the internet though, I get along with lots of people, regardless of their ages, as long as we have some similar interest.

I get along better with male older adults. I like to talk to girls my age, I don't necessarily get along with them though. Males my age are interesting if we talk about games, guns and exploding things.
