I'm in school right now to be a mechatronics technician, I should be finished in a year or so. I was thinking about taking prerequisite classes (physics, advanced math) for engineering track students (also offered at the college) and entering the workforce after that.

My long term goal is to get a BS in engineering part time while working in the industry. Can anybody weigh in on getting an engineering degree part time? Has anybody done it? I'd prefer to get a degree from a physical location. Do they offer night classes for engineers?

I looked at an open university engineering degree - was going to take AGES!

I like to blaze through things fast but even 3 years was considered fast.

I'm not worried about taking too long, I'll get most of the prerequisite track (basic math and science) done as a full time student, either way I'd do them because I want a better understanding of the basics, there's a lot I'd like to know about what I'm working with.

I don't care how long the higher level classes take, I'd rather get the experience than do everything at once.
