I chose to go to a large state university over the regional & private schools so I wouldn't have to live in a dorm w/ a roommate and share a bathroom. I live in an apartment house 1/2 mile from campus and it works out good

did you just start school? a lot of people recommended living on campus for freshman year.

if you like how it is, that's all that matters.

If it works, it works. Keep in mind that's when the university uses the fact that 'they have your best interests at heart' to justify something, though, it's a red flag and don't do a thing until you read *all* the fine print.

If you can afford to live alone, and have the basic skills to do so, go for it. The lack of distraction means you can better focus on your work. I was fortunate that my parents trained me to be self-sufficient, so I haven't had to worry so much about preparing food or fixing things that break. A lot of parents raise children who are helpless when they leave home and the colleges seem eager to take over the role of parent.
