I was just wondering what I could do about college since I would have to be in a dorm to since I want to go to Edinburgh in Altoona. What would I do if I have a roommate who does drugs or brings home boys every night and would kick me out of the room and I would have no place to sleep? Please someone tell me what I could do about terrible roommates.

If your in college owned dorms, you need to talk to the people in charge.

Part of being in a dorm situation is making compromises. When I lived in the dorms, there were times my room mate asked me to be somewhere else, and vis vera, but if he/she's kicking you out every night and doing drugs, you need to talk to the people in charge of the dorm.

Can you get a single room? That's what I've done. It's worked out perfectly. I've been able to drink lots of alcohol and do lots of drugs without having to worry about a roommate complaining about me. (I say this partly in jest, but seriously a single room is the way to go.)

Please avoid the "creepy" dorms

Is the college in Edinburgh (UK) or Altoona (US)?

I have never understood why US universities expect students to share a room. This would drive me crazy. Is it possible to find a single room?

Sharing a room is about economies of size.

Where I went to college, we only had about 4800 students who live on campus. That means we only have about 2,400 dorm rooms. There really isn't space to build 4,800 individual dorms. It would also drive the cost up exponentially of a dorm.

Where i attended school, their reasoning was it enhanced people skills and emotional levels of the students. They would not accomodate you like they would now in an eception or single room for AS or similar other conditions.

Meh, I just stay at home while attending college; my university does offer dorm rooms, but they're very expensive.
