So I still haven't paid the application fee for college. I want to go for medical assisting, so I can have a shot at life. And I filled the form out, but I haven't paid the fee yet.

The admittance recruit I met was less than helpful. He basically told me no one would have time to help me. Basically 'it's all online, good f***ing luck.'. I am afraid I won't be able to get financial aid, to pick the right courses, anything. I have no idea what to do and no idea who to ask for help.

my considered opinion, is that you should steer clear of for profit colleges such as university of phoenix and their ilk, and stick to a state college or local technical college.

This WAS the local school. I met with the D-bag on campus. $8 taxi fare each way to basically get blown off.

Personally I would rather die than join the armed forces. I don't have the constitution for it for one. I can't handle being yelled at. My father was a drill sergeant and between 12 and 15 I tried to run away from home four or five times. When running away and calling the cops on him for emotional abuse didn't work I started fantasizing about killing him and then myself.

Being forced to listen to another man yell at me like that holds no appeal. Nor does going to a military prison when I snap on the ***hole. But with my physical disabilities and record of mental illness I couldn't get in anyway.

But the lack of help is the reason I never went to school in the first place. I don't know how to get financial aid and my mother sure doesn't, she dropped out of highschool. I have never been good at figuring things out like this. They didn't have a highschool class on how to get financial aid for college. Which come to think of it they really should.

I have no really close friends, so of course no close friends who've been to college.

I do have one slim hope. I saw something on the library bulletin board about people helping adults get help with FAFSA paperwork, if they have an office in my town. I took a card but haven't had a chance to call yet. If they don't have one in my town I don't know what to do.

Do you suppose I could get help if I called the school again and asked to speak to some one in the special ed. department? I don't have an official diagnosis of autism and I no documentation in my possession of ADHD, tough mom said that'll be in my highschool transcript. I do have my diploma with IEP in great big letters.

the person in the special ed dep't might have contacts for you. give it a try, the worst that could happen is nothing.
