I am a student from Poland.
I am majoring in Library and Information Science.
I am studying at the University of Wroclaw. In Poland, librarians and information professionals do not earn much. Many think of librarians as a dying profession.

I myself am unemployed. I wonder how the librarian profession is perceived in other countries?

I decided to study to library science because I love to read, and librarian is perfect profession for an aspie :D

I was thinking that I would like to become a librarian, but it seems as though job security would be uncertain, as it seems to me as though it is a dying profession as well. I hope that isn't true, I don't know for sure, but I worry that it is the case.
I hope that you enjoy your degree and manage to obtain a job that you like afterwards. :)

It's a great field to study! I learned about the history of libraries, among other things. If you like programming, giving it a go. Marc 21 format records are fun to work with, esp. in a library setting.
Sources used: I just graduated with my AAS/Certificate in Library and Information Services.
