I was a "special ed" student from nursery school (explicitly called "brain-injured nursery school), to 5th grade. Nothing really stood out. I was disciplined quite a bit. The kids used to bother me, I used to throw tantrums. In first grade, I was in public special ed. The kids had all kinds of disorders within one class: autism, deafness, intellectual challenges, etc. From 2nd to 5th, I went to a private school for kids with all kinds of disorders. It still exists today. It was known as the Summit School. You could research it.
I went to "regular school" from 6th through 8th grade with decent academic, but poor social results. I was almost expelled for getting thrown out of class repeatedly for "calling out."
From 9th through 12th grade, I went to a high school for "gifted underachievers." There was little structure. I probably would have benefited from more structure.
In college, I went as a "regular" student, and graduated Magna cum laude (at the age of 45, it should be noted).
