I saw this article today, and I know it says introvert, but, I can't help but see a lot of aspie traits mentioned:

http://ideas.ted.com/2014/09/02/how-to-teach-a-young-introvert/

It would be nice if this took off... then also translated into the workplace.
My classrooms were smaller and quieter than the cube farm I work in. When I go back to finish my MS, it'll be even tinier than they were for my bs.

But, anyway, good ideas and I'd obviously support them. I HATED group work, and always did better out of arm's reach of the other students, preferably with my back to them.

Interesting article.

Speaking for myself, I'm introvert but I can't say I found being in school overstimulating. I was just there, with little interaction.

There were times I refused group work. I hated it with a vengeance. And if it wasn't bad enough we had to do that, we also at times sat in groups, period. How I hated it!

This part annoyed me though:

Quote:
There?s research that shows that if a student has no friends at all ? zero friends ? that is problematic and should be addressed.

As long as the student in question has no problems with it, leave them the fudge alone. You are absolutely not doing them any favors trying to force them to make "friends" when all they want is to get home to their life; pets, interests, special interests or obsessions, family.
I have never had friends IRL and that is a problematic for me as it is for a fish that it can't ride a bicycle.

Other than that, it's a good article. Independent work should be cherished in school and work. Teachers and employers should use their students/employees strengths to their advantage instead of trying to force square pegs into round holes.
