Why were my most recent SATs so bad?

I was a Junior this year. All in all, SATs were all over the place. PSATs were bad, 900s, 300s for math and 500s for verbal.

My first SAT scores were good, 1310 with 710 for verbal and 600 for math. I had practiced a little, but not much.

I didn't practice at all for the second one, actually, I didn't know we were taking it until that morning. I'd never been to the school before, and I drank some coffee, but I didn't feel anxious. I also hate writing by hand, and I had to do an essay by hand this time.

I scored 1210, with 590 for math and 620 for verbal! I was hoping I'd score better at something so they'd superscore it, but I did worse at everything. My twin brother studied for a few days and was superscored-- now he has a 1480 and I've still just got a 1310 without an essay! I'm so upset because at first we didn't have a significant difference in SAT scores, now he's a genius compared to me.

Weirdly, my "score range" for these tests say that I should score within a range I never score in. Is it odd how different my scores are?

A big part, like an athlete, sounds like you just weren't ready for the test. Not with food, recent prep and rhythm. And the caffeine lift from the coffee may have dropped off at a certain point.

And the SAT is a marathon!

Don't they ask you to get there before 8:00 am and you get out like 12:30 pm if you're lucky ! ?

For these kind of things, I like to nibble at nuts and other small bits of food. I try and stay hunger tiger slightly feed and keep my energy at a fairly even level.

With math specifically, it helped me finding out that my preferred cognitive style is narrative/case study. I can be quite good at math, but I kind of go at my own way.
