I'm thinking more about going back to school, but I can't decide what to go for right now. I am not actively interested in any hobbies or specific things at this moment. Is this common with the autism spectrum or what?

I just want a foundation for a stable work life.

Well, then I suppose you could try researching the different career types to find one which would seem to have the kind of salary range and job market you want. Figure what the demands of them are, whether one would be likely to tolerate such types of work, and figure what one may have some capacity of skill towards. These considerations may potentially help to narrow down possibilities.

So what is considered the benchmark for a good or decent average salary. I'm going average because it all depends on geographical standard and cost of living.

There's a site called O*Net, where you can explore different career options.

Do you have some idea of things you might like to do, or perhaps things you hate? Like, for me, I love writing, and I hate telemarketing. Sometimes, it helps to rule out what you strongly dislike so that you don't find yourself in a job that, to your surprise, requires you to do some hated task all day long.

A lot of my ideas aren't very realistic. I wanted to learn how to act and be an actor, but I felt people were being judgmental about it, that success in the field is rare, and I don't have any training or experience. I feel like someone saying "I don't like the outdoors, but I want to go camping in Alaska". I would still love to learn that, but I don't know if it's realistic. On the other hand, it's not a typical 9-5 job, which I don't know if traditional work is suitable for me.

Ever try community theater? It might be fun, if nothing else. Also, if you put the question out there, what careers might interest a would-be actor, you just might get an answer. If not, perhaps the germ of an idea or a starting point might come to you.

Hmm, related careers might be voiceover or narration, sales, public speaking, or maybe something creative.
