Should bother to try or give up on the idea?

Really like to apologize for asking this question but do not want to bug my best friend for his opinion. Also the nature of the question might be odd to certain people. Also more people could take time to reply here. So could later take all responses and help decide. Like to go here: http://www.nyit.edu/ but not sure if at my age it is worth it. Have doubt starting to attend my first offline university right now. :? Everything seems to be very clear at first (PDF's) but bigger question is:

1. Will they accept me to the program of choice? (no one could answer this one here just sharing.) If you do actually find anything to add here feel free to answer anyway.

2. How is it "normal" to act with other students not to feel odd one out? how to cope to "blend in" tips? I am by all means normal mostly what "normal" is defined as excluding independence and socializing. I need everything to be highly in a sequence structured and no missing facts. While not be baby fed, yet so could easily know my schedule. So many fears, attending all my classes.

It has been a while since I been to High School 25 now what is the material definition. But in High School it is different as it has a balance between independence and guidance. Some people take some thing for granted but for me it is all too real this fear. Some of the worries might seem nonsense to others.

In your opinions should I bother trying or act passive towards my thoughts of trying to get in?

One most important reason out of the many is: This might be my last chance to go to an offline university being youthful. So by the time I am 30 years old in number of years. Have a chance to be somebody / additional accomplishments to current degrees. Instead of saying what have I done perhaps attending a university. This experience perhaps may teach me to be on my own. At least raise maybe my social and independence intelligence. :? (unsure) like your input.

Thank you very much.

Have you looked at this?

http://iris.nyit.edu/centraladvisingcenter/

The biggest mistake that I made was *not* asking for help. I didn't want to be a "poor thing." It was so hard, even though I staggered through with decent grades, it was a nightmare. And I was taking stuff that I like.

This current round (online http://www.athabascau.ca) I'm registered with every resource I can find. It's incredible how much they can help with things that aren't a big deal to them, but make a world of difference to me. Maybe Resources could be useful to you too?

I went to University from 1992-1996 (BA) and again 2000-2001 (MA) so here's some of my thoughts.

I don't know about acceptance to classes in the US, however for me there was one class that stood out: Creative Writing. When I started in 1992 it was my goal to eventually get accepted (it was a 3rd year english class, and the number of places was very small). Well, 1995 came round, I applied and I got in! So I guess, just go for what you want and try not to worry too much.

When I was at University, both as an Undergrad and Postgrad, I really felt awkward. Uni is a real social thing, everybody meets new friends, goes to parties, stay out drinking, getting laid, etc. I didn't do any of that, I just went to class and that was it.

It was tough, I tried a few social events but eventually gave up and tried to focus on why I was there. There were times when I *had* to meet people and "get out there"- for my theatre studies class I had to do some performance work, and I kinda freaked about that at first.

So I came away with a degree but none of the other experiences normal people really value.

When I did my MA, I didn't bother being social at all. I didn't talk to the other students outside of class. I had some problems with my thesis supervisor because he found my demeanour very unsettling, but really that was his problem.
