Using Tor at school

My situation:

I'm going to a boarding school for autistic persons. Everyone persuaded me to going to it. Internet censhorship and freedom of speech are one of the most problems in that's school. They are gathering logs and they can use it against me according to director's statement and report it further. I wanted bypass Internet censhorship so I installed Tor Browser on my laptop. I had set BIOS password and encrypted hard drive with Linux on a former laptop. Once day teacher looked on my screen of my laptop and he tells me that if I will still using Tor in school then he call police.

Is using Tor in school sure on personal laptop good idea? How can I hide my traffic before teachers?

Your age says your 46. If that's accurate there's not a lot the school can do besides kick you out for it. The cops wouldn't do anything to you if they were called for that because using Tor is NOT illegal.
