living in small apartments
Yuck.
When I panicked for leaving home I was so desperate I rented a 3-room flat of 90 square meters. It was the only flat available! I stayed there for three months, after immediatly resigning the contract, and used some contacts to help me find a realy cozy small 3 room flat with decent rate and a open fire place. I renovated the kitchen there, and was taking care of the lawn outside so I got away real cheap. I also was encouraged to have parties when the landlord was on vacation so the houses seemed populated.
Later I moved about 200km to another city, moved into 9 square meters where I had a toilet, a fridge with two plates to cook on on it, a bed, a bookshelf and a computer. Me and my ex lived there for two terms (!) then we got tired of it, fixed a flat with two rooms and a good kitchen. Then we had to leave that apartment because the owner wanted it back and it was a secondary contract. So we moved again in that city, to a pesky 2 room flat of 56 square metres. That whole trip to live in that city was a nightmare, because I was supposed to have a students room when school started, and fixed all the paperwork and when I was supposed to move in the b**ch had extended the contract for the person living there before and the contract was cancel and goodbye.
Then we moved back to the original town because I got a work here and fixed a employment for my ex. We got a nice flat in two levels, lived there for a couple of years until a real estate house got available we knew the owner of so we got it for a bargain. Anyway, after 10 years in that house our nice relationship went from love to good friends, so I moved into a small apt with about 19 square meters again. And I almost got claustrophobic in there. Then I found the apartment over a banana slip and have lived here almost a year. 90 square meters with a balcony and you can't live more central in any town so I don't even have a car right now, but a parking lot my friends use frequently.
But living in a corridor solution is quite fun! At least as long as everybody has set the rules of taking care of the public areas in a good way...
