I need some advice. I'm homeschooled, but I can't seem to do my work. I'm always either here at my nanna's house using the Internet, or at home playing video games. I'm supposed to do a project on the culture in Madagascar, and I've not finished it. I also have a heap of other work to do, but I can't seem to do it. Anyone got any ideas that'll help me do my work?

I recommend going to the library, which provides a quiet, scholarly, uninterrupted workspace. You need to find an environment that defines work and study.

I'm a university student now, but I was homeschooled myself until age 16 when I started taking community college classes. Actually, if I had a problem, it was the complete opposite of yours. Instead of being unable to ignore distractions, I was unable to avoid my work. I actually became a little obsessive and overworked myself at times.

Well. . .

You have choices. What makes it more appealing to do other things than to do your work?

Why won't your mum let you got to the library?

Ok. . what stops you from doing your work? Do you get distracted? If so, what do you get destracted by? And what is the draw of that thing? (repeat for any number of things. ..)

For instance, you mentioned video games. What is it you like about them? Is it the awesome graphics? The fine motor manipulation? The sense of progression?

Mum makes excuses so she doesn't have to take me.

Video games stop me from doing my work. I've hired a game, and well... I've become addicted to it again. I can't seem to stop playing it and do my work.

You can't? You have no free will and choice?

You may want to get your mum or grandmother to hold it for you, and only allow you access to it during breaks and when your work is done. .
