I never really go unless I'm asked out by a girl.

Yes, I went to two informal school dances (no dates, costumes or casual clothing) when I was a sophomore, and to the three formal dances (dresses and ties, dates) my school had when I was a senior. Most people went to the formal dances starting as sophomores or juniors. I went to two of the formal dances with my best friend who was gay, but he didn't want to go to the Prom with me. My sister had to find me a prom date from another school...

Anyway, school dances were stupid, and I never had a good time at them. I pretended to have fun so my friends wouldn't think I was strange. I was usually on the decorating committee, though, and I loved buying supplies and setting up for them!

ETA: This was in high school. I was invited to some formals at college, but I was too nervous to go and I made stupid excuses to get out of going to them.

Nope.
I skipped my high school prom to watch a new episode of Pokémon. I could care less.

I went to one. It was pretty abysmal.

On our private school prom, the only thing I looked forward to was going to Maggiano's. I had a date, sweet but a little controlling. She also hangs out with jocks and everyone said it would be cute to go together. After I asked her--I commented about "sweating liters" and half the class noticed. Don't, please don't make that mistake! Be weird, but unexpected. Very hard lesson to learn.

After being stood up at my prom, I vowed never to go to another dance again, school-related or not.

I go to school dances if other people seem to be going. Whenever my class is getting the ticket money, I know I'll know a bunch of people there.

Junior Prom was pretty nice, I'm looking forward to Senior Prom :)

Never voluntarily. One of my elementary schools did have dances as a fun thing on Halloween and so fourth. It was mandatory, during school hours, and everyone had to go. I just stood around on the sidelines doing nothing. It was really stupid. I was in grades 5 & 6 at the time.

I never go to the discos/dances, although I used to at one point. However, I got pretty bored.

There's a Year 11 prom this year but I couldn't care less. I never go to dances or discos because a) they're boring, b) I can't see the fun in having a meal and alcohol, dancing like an idiot. And the after-party? Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of going to the prom in the first place, dancing even more and sounding like a demented rhinocerous? And c) who wants to go to the proms anyway? Definitely not me!

There are very few things worse than even the idea of school functions. Never been to any (not even the Year 11 prom, apparently I should be pitied for this) and I don't intend to go to any.

People say that the proms are very memorable moments, but I've had lots of them!

These include:

> Being on national UK television
> Climbing to the top of the Brecon Beacons
> Being in 3 Gifted and Talented Maths Courses

And going to a lousy prom isn't going to be one of them.
