I found elementary and middle school very easy as I didn't really have to study. I knew most of the stuff we were learning, and could get A's without doing much work. Now, I am in high school and the work is tougher. However, up until recently, I was not studying much as I felt that, just as in my earlier years, I could get A's without studying. Just a warning, don't let this happen to you too.

You'll pick up when you start to readjust... that's what happened to me.

Also, this time you're probably going to have to look at books, not just attend lessons.

Consider talking to your school librarian about age-appropriate non-fiction books. I wish I had but I just assumed in my high school years that if the teacher didn't cover it, then it wasn't important.

yeah, i was the same way, i never really studied in high school and middle school except for math really. i never got A's though, just B's and maybe C's, when i studied i would see little difference in the results and became discouraged just thinking it was a waste of time. but i know now that if i only worked harder i would have gotten those A's.

so, don't slack off in high school, get your grades up so you can go to a good college. I regret going to the school i am at now where people's intellectual capacities are much lower than my own and its hard to find friends i want to talk to.

I slacked off in most of my classes and the classes I got the worst grades in, I worked as hard as I could and actually learned a lot. Namely, AP chemistry, chemistry honors, physics and that's probably it out of all the classes I took in high school.

I slacked all through HS, didn't finish some classes, and it didn't make any difference. I got into the university I wanted to (it's a 10 min. drive from my house...), and am happy in the program I am in. University definitely requires a lot more effort, especially in the upper years.

As an aspie, you could benefit more from practicing your social skills than your academic ones.

I was a slacker in school. Always got good grades but never did any study. I didn't need to. If I had, I would have gotten even better grades but considering I had 60 marks more than I needed for the university entrance - what would be the point?

I have just finished my first half year at HS now, I can't say I worked hard but I did make alittle effort. I did okay in some classes and not so good in others. I got straight A's in all my English classes (got three different English classes) and I am the best in my class at that, that took me least effort. I struggle alot with religion, I got a Strong D in that, I am just so bored with it.

I gotta try to make alittle more effort with my badest subjects, but the problem is I can't be bothered.. I just gotta push myself, as it isn't good to fall behind.

I can understand being bored with religion, but why a D? What are they asking you to do?

I did awful things in Religion at school and as a result, I ended up enjoying it - for the wrong reasons of course.

- We were asked to summarize Exodus, I did... but I used the word Charlton instead of Moses in a few places...

- We had to summarize Revelations, I used the Omen, Rosemary's Baby and a few other books for assistance.

- We had to do a presentation on a different religion. I chose satanism (in a catholic school) and got an A for it.

- I went right through my bible and highlighted the worst bits, rude bits, awful laws (like in Deutronomy) and contradictions - then I used to use them to get the teachers completely off track.

- We had a religion teacher whose name sounded a bit like "hamster" - so I started adding a hamster to all of the pictures in my bible. I got part way through Exodus before being caught. I was changing words too... I got caught on the part where the princess discovered moses. My picture had a rat on the cradle and the words "the princess peered through the reeds and noticed the hamster". I was sent to the office about this but what could they do.

You need to find ways to enjoy the subject and strangely enough, even though you're "mucking up", if you're "mucking up on topic, you'll learn what you need to.

Essentially I have "never" studied or otherwise managed to pick up the slack in any of my classes in grade school or university.

Most of the time I got along just fine, but occasionally there have been some troublesome classes. In those particular classes -- that is when I KNOW I NEED TO STUDY, and I TRY, but fail. Most recently, I've noticed that I just can't read textbooks. I just can't. I understand how to open the book. I understand how to turn to the relevant chapters. I know that the words in the paragraphs contain information. And lastly I know how to read, but I can't read any more than the first three words in any paragraph before I get up and leave my desk.

What I did to overcome my little reading problem (and this is very successful FOR ME, I've been getting AAABB or AAAB at university recently) is: Pay as close attention as you can in class. Write down good enough notes (My favorite is bullet style). Later, preferably on the same day, type them into the computer slowly, reading each bullet carefully.

Before any important test, quickly read through your notes. Since they are fast, and you wrote them (and can make them funny :) ) you should be able to get through them fast.

Or you can tell me to go to hell, your choice. :D

Well, it isn't really that big of a deal, It was just a test that counted around 70% of the grade, and I crashed and burned on that one, to many dates, weird names of churches and different epoch's. Really boring as hell, and when I'm bored in an subject + that I hate it, I usually do very bad in tests etc..

One test counted for 70% of your grade? That's a sh***y way to do things if you ask me.

Tell me about it, the Norwegian school system is rubbish. We are one of the richest countrys who spend most money per. student each year and we are at the bottom of the school rating of 50 countries. We are on 40th place, we have the worst grades out of all those countries.

And the school I go to is rated as the worst school in our county, wich consist of around 20-30 High Schools.

What ... you actually had to know things like dates... urgh...

We only had to ask questions like "what do you think Jesus felt like when he was giving a sermon and there wasn't enough food".

You can BS your way through questions like that easily enough.
