What type of degree are you desiring?

{Meaning the type of degree you want.}

I will go for an associate in the arts,
then after transferring will go for a Bachelor's.

Going for both MD and PhD (so doctoral) but I obviously have to get my bachelor's degree first. Do you want us just to pick the highest level of education we want to attain?

Well, I want a bachelor's and a doctoral, but I'm not going for an associate's or a master's. I'll just put doctoral.

You have to get a master's before going for a doctoral anyway.

No you don't. Most people who go to medical school for an MD just go there right after finishing the bachelor's degree, and that's also a pretty common route for PhD candidates.

But it is different from other areas of study like history and psychology from BA or BS to MA or MS to PhD.

No, that's a common misconception. Sometimes the particular Ph.D program will require master's degrees from it's applicants, but there is no universal rule that you need a master's in order to attain a Ph.D. I plan to go straight from finishing my bachelors in biology to a Ph.D program (though I'm not voting since I don't have AS).

Ah makes sense but still have BA, MA, and PhD does look on a resume sometimes doesn't it.

I don't know if anyone really cares about anything other than your highest degree. I constantly hear, from med school admissions officers and others, that it really does not matter at all where you go for undergrad, since no one cares about that once you have a doctorate.

Actually sometimes it does like for the Government for an example. The degree matters to some employers as well based on their company standards sometimes.

I'm currently working on a B.A. in History, but after this, I'm going for a J.D., a law degree. :D; Hopefully I'll survive law school.

you don't HAVE to get a MS before a PhD... but a lot of times it's smarter to do that so you can find EXACTLY what niche you're interested in. for molecular research... a MS generally takes 2 yrs whereas a PhD can take anywhere from 4-6 yrs... so that's why it's kind of main stream to get a MS first. it's also a maturity thing, to see if you're ready... i'm doing my PhD now and i work 7 days a week, period. lol
