In Feb. 2005 I was sadly suspended from College. after years of being depressed I signed up for financial aid and was denied it's about $6,000 a semester!! ! (that's for the AA degree) Now I'm depressed!! !! After finally wanting to go on from that suspension issue THIS COMES UP!! ! My family says I should get into technology but I'm not sure what!! ! (truthfully I want to do something Psychology based.) (No not you talking about your behavior issues but studying your brain and how it functions during certain behaviors etc.) but overall I haven't learned enough of Psychology to know exactly what I want to do!! !! I also can't think of anything tech based!! :-( The Psychology aspect of interest is WHY people behave the way they do! :-( I LOVED WRITING PSYCHOLOGY PAPERS BACK IN COLLEGE!! ! :-( Thanks fellow WP members I hope you guys can lift my spirits. :-(

Good Lord, for $6,000 a semester you can live in California and go to a community college as an out-of-state student, and have money left over. Actually, I think you could probably go to a 4 year school here (not counting room and board) for that.

I'd suggest community college, it really is cheaper in most places. You can take the intro courses there. Get the reading lists, read everything on them. That will give you a feel for the field. Ask the professors for more reading, tell them you have an interest in their fields - most will think that's marvelous and help you all they can.

On a psych or sociology field - you're going to pretty much have to have a masters or a PhD to do anything substantial with it in a practical sense. Social workers, psychologists, etc., require significant advanced training. With only a BA, you can look at, perhaps, working with children in a public school. On the good side, if you get into the field and find you really love it, you'll do well. And that can lead to scholarships to grad school, where you could work into neuropsychology. If your parent want something "techy", that's a way to go with the argument. The folks who wire people up for brain scans, do research with fMRI and other scans always need assistants.....

Best of luck to you.

Well it was a Community College and contribution from parent/student= 5,000 ish and I'd say after books etc. about $6000 THAT'S ALOT! I like the brain idea. :-) Thanks. I've read up on the PhD thing and know about the grad degree etc. but right now it's about learning all I can learn on something. I like the NeuroPsychology argument since as stated I don't care about your emotional issues more WHY you behave the way you do. You've up lifted me at least a little so I thank you for that. :-)
