I'm in an accelerated program and didn't quite grasp how accelerated it would be when I signed on.

I paid the tuition, signed the legal documents and now have to keep going.

Accelerated: Accounting - learn, retain and apply principles (a chapter a day)

me: brain's ability to process (rapidly) not cooperating with desire to process, retain and apply.

I was so overwhelmed today that I started to blubber and couldn't talk. I had to visit a counsellor at another school for help.

I'm only sleeping a couple of hours at a time - and am tormented by vivid (accounting dreams....where I am working on a confusing array of procedures that don't make any sense)

There is so much more - I'm not sure if anyone would understand - other than someone who is attending one of these accelerated programs.

anyone out there? - who does?

Everyday is becoming more difficult and I'm losing my grip.

your stressed.

you have both described and failed to recognise it in your post.

a common combination in people who are stressed.

the easy answer for me in light of the amount of information i have available?

what value do you place on the course?
and what value do you place on your ?fragile mental health.

stressed people only want or ask for solutions

all people need to be able to identify the problem.

the solutions follow.

No value. It's a "scam".

but....
with that being said: the financial value is: I'll be out over $10 grand in tuiition....
(and don't know if there is anyway I could get my money back)

a lot of value. However - with that being said: I'm in a quandry. Brain doesn't seem to be able to keep up with the amount of information being crammed into it - that's the kicker.

I also do realize that I'm stressed - but it's a "moot point" or a "luxury"

I just feel very alone in the classroom. The information is spewed out so fast.....and then the instructor and a couple of students sit back and chit-chat........(way off topic) the other three students and myself sit there in silence desperately trying to read the textbook or apply ourselves....if we have a question - we must wait - until the chit-chat period is over.

Should the socializing within the classroom not be short and sweet and/or saved for break?

I am not alone in this - another student was crying and repeatedly saying that she didn't understand - the other three students are just learning English....and they did not understand....but the instructor LEFT for an appointment and said: quote - "I don't have time to explain this".

There is a final exam on intermediate a/c Friday. (what the?)

p.s. for those who may be interested in the math.....
there are 7 students in the class.

It's kinda like that here. The career college retains a lot of students who are being sponsored by the government EI program. They have worked hard and because of medical reasons can no longer perform in their chosen profession......

so they are eligible to be re-trained.

Only problem is: the time frame

EI won't sponsor anyone over a year....in a "real college"....

so the career college ends up with the "goose" and the "freakin golden egg"

they also: constantly change their textbooks.....(every couple months).....come on - just how much do they have to update in accounting....(intermediate).....it's not gov reg's just basic intermediate a/c....

point is: you can't buy second hand books to save money
so: the college bookstore make a greater profit selling new books at inflated prices....and "beauty"......the government will pay for it!....(disgusting - if you ask me)

jeez....I hope nobody says: I didn't ask you....(just an aside)

Thing is: I've been scammed....and it was my chance to re-train to get a good job....
I'm so afraid...right now...

also - I realize the "conundrum"......if I continue trying to stand up to "ideals" and "honesty" I'll be cutting off my nose to spite my face....

aka....
word will get out and - no employer will hire a student who graduated from a "scam" school.

woe....is.....me...

while I cant help you i can offer you this.

after the shock, the initial shock of realising what you are in has passed, you will need to work out a way to "figure it out"

look after your mental health.

good luck

I didn't clarify....

sorry...

the career college is under a year - "accelerated course"....
that is why they get so many EI sponsored students.

do the math:

1 student - $10,000 to $12,000 dollars

10 students: 10 x $10,000 to $12,000 = $100,000 to $120,000

100 students: 100 X $10,000 to $12,000 = $1,000,000 to $1,200,000

pure PROFIT and a drain on the taxpayer's money in the long run.....because many of these students do not get jobs in their chosen field.....(the stat's are not audited by an independent)

plus: some courses are more than 12,000...........more.
and on and on and on...................

not to mention the math if you count the profit from books....
(but I won't do that to you guys...)
