I took my first class at Texas State today. I took mineralogy, and so far, it has gone well.

I ended up taking the wrong tram (my school has a bus system), and ended up on the other side of San Marcos. I eventually took the one that took me back to my apartment.

I am a bit nervous about tomorrow, which is my busiest day, because I have a philosophy class, urban geography, and statistics (which is a night class).

I will wait until the end of the week before I make a final verdict as to whether San Marcos or Wichita Falls is better.

Don't worry about it Tim.

You will get used to your new environment.

Geez Tim, the classes you're taking make mine look like child's play! 8O

I'm only taking Creative Writing, Algebra/Trigonometry, and Cultural Studies.

I'm anxious about my upcoming requirement to have mastered the metro system in the DC area. There's a science meeting this yr in DC and i'm saving money by staying at my apt in VA instead of getting a hotel room right outside the convention. I've only gone on this metro system twice with other people and i'm afraid i'll just wind up in china or something if i go by myself. lol

good luck with your classes. the mineralogy class sounds interesting... used to love rocks n stuff.

Fortunately for you, the other side of San Marcos is still within walking distance. I recommend parking downtown (I used to park on Hutchison) and then walk up (and we both know what up means) to campus. Oh, and the answer is that San Marcos is better, primarily by virtue of its proximity to Austin and San Antonio. Of course, I may be biased.

My apartment is by the stadium, and my classes are in the Evans Bldg.

The main transportation issue I have is that the buses only run until just after 8:00pm, and one of my classes is an evening class, lasting until 9:15pm. And with the parking/construction situation as bad as it is, I have no idea what I'll be doing.

My philosophy, urban geography, and statistics classes went very well.

As for whether San Marcos or Wichita Falls was better, it's...too close to call.

There is an AS support group at my school, but it coincides with one of my classes.

So my chances of meeting other Aspies (particularly female, liberal ones) here is zero. That was one of the main reasons I transferred to Texas State. There was no support group in Wichita Falls--the nearest one was in Fort Worth, 100 miles away.

I KNEW something would go wrong at this school.

if it's that big of a deal to you, can you drop or switch that class?

That may not be possible, because my class (philosophy) is a required course.

And the time of the support group will not change either.

The only way I can meet other Aspies in my area now id if somebody just drops everything and moves here. And that's assuming that there are even female Aspies at the support group. Not to mention they have to be liberal.

All the female Aspies in the entire state of Texas who are liberal are already in relationships.

just because the course is required for your major doesn't mean you have to take it THIS semester, does it?

I had a goal of finishing college by the time I'm 30, and to reach that goal, I cannot drop any more classes.

I focus so much on trying to impress and attract people that I almost never allow time for myself.

I was thinking the support group would meet in the evenings, but it meets of Fridays at 2:00pm.
