I was in my high school's NJROTC for four years. I was the Academic Team Muster Petty Officer in my junior year and the Academic Team Commander in my senior year. I was also awarded NS-2 Honor Cadet, NS-3 Distinguished Cadet, 4 medals, and a trophy named after me. I was also the first Academic Team Commander to have double gold anchors on my Academic Ribbon. I left my unit as an ensign which was a achievement for me.

I once got a ROTC frat boy sent to "Office Hours" with his Commandant after he and his buddies tried to jump the claim on a conference room that my friends and I had reserved for our gaming club. That's the only time I was ever involved with ROTC.

By the sounds of what ROTC this is MCROTC since only Marine Corps have a commandant at the head of the corps. So College ROTC then I guess, Fnord, since you did not used JROTC.
