It has been difficult for me in the past to take 4 courses per semester and to be able to focus on all four of them during the entire semester. What I have decided to do is to take a maximum of 3 courses per semester. What I find astounding is how some college students can handle a full-time load of coursework AND hold a job on the side. I don't even work, and taking 3 courses per semester is almost pushing my limits!

Does anybody else have the same problem?

I find it easy with the course load because it's the lowest it's been in my life. At the beginning of high school (years 7+8) I did like 8-9 subjects. By the time I got to year 10, we were down to 7. Year 11 = 6, year 12 = 5, university = 4 subjects. Plus as you get higher up, the range of subjects you do is less (no more compulsory english! :P) and thus the current ones are more interesting and Im more likely to try in them.

That's just how I see it. I had no trouble with a full course load + 15-20 hours of work a week last semester.

There's nothing wrong with doing 3 courses a semester and spreading a 3 year course over 4 years. I know someone doing that. There's nothing wrong with it if you think it will help you in the end. Stuff what everyone else is doing.

Yes, I have a great deal trouble juggling many courses (although I do have a half time job). I can do a normal load, but much more (even not related to school) and I get overwhelmed.

Yeah. I was taking 4-5 classes per quarter and that was just way too ridiculous an amount. I liked that I was able to take a lot of different classes I liked but I don't think that I really was that functional. it was just way too much stress.

I took 2 classes my last quarter and frankly it is way way better.

I'm not exactly single-minded...I find myself able to transfer from one subject to another in the five minute travel time.
I'm like you in the sense that I have to have a three course semester as well. I tried one semester without it, and I started getting physical symptoms (unable to walk from the amount of shaking) from the amount of stress I went through. I just can't keep my level of standards in school (I usually get 85-90%, though that first stress semester it was 70%-75%), and I need extended time for a lot of things. I can't handle the work load from a full course load.
If you want to pm me about semester stuff, I'm willing to listen and help. (If you're new to the three semester thing) I know a bunch about resource after these two years of resource periods, and if you have any questions that I don't know, I have some really nice resource teachers that would probably know.
Are you Canadian? Because the US system seems to be different, from the posts I've read.
