My semester started two weeks ago, and I still don't feel like the semester has started, at least for some of the classes. I have a class where another teacher has been hosting the class for the last few weeks. I realize that a report is coming up, but I feel like a ball of jello (lazy and atrophied).

Now, how do you deal with a college semester where you havent got anything done for credit yet.

Dunno. I'm currently in the same position.

Lush Cosmetics, "Honey I Washed The Kids" Soap.

Comes in a solid perfume too. Great smell, makes me happy - its calming... and yes, I'm a dude.

Besides that, constant calmness helps - exercise and good eating habits.

- Soap -

I'm often in the same boat. And TokenX is right: unless I'm fascinated, it's not going to happen. The question is how to spark the passion. Sometimes reading non-class-assigned material about the subject helps me, especially if the teacher hasn't done a great job providing a structured context.

Of course, there's always the tried-and-true solution -- procrastinate like a mo-fo until panic sets in, then bang that assignment out.

Good luck!

I usually fall back on procrastination. Panic is a huge motivator and it has worked well for me so far!

#1 admit that you do not have as much time on your hands as you think to do your homework
#2 admit that your homework is not easy to do and cannot be done by cramming
#3 admit that your homework and tests are doable and passable and not too much for you

you need kill two thought processes first one is thinking you have enough time to write your essays, do homework, study for tests, etc. which makes you think you can get it all done later. the second concurrent thought is that you will never get it all done, you will never get an A, you will probably not even pass, and so why bother starting?

Erf i've had some problem, but i can't identify it as procrastination or lazyness....

See i've taken the last college class i need to get my diploma and go fulltime in university from a long distance program. It's a class called "Demarch and integration in human sciences". Basicly you need to do one big project, but the only two methods they allow in that program i have never tried and i'm so unfamiliar with... I had a subject already taken about the importance of water in the world, but now... i've been slumping and wondering what to do about it.... my mom got me what "seems" to be the correct info... But i can't bring myself to do the homework.... it's months late and all i was supposed to do was a scheme of concepts regarding my project.... (Among other things)

i'm kind of distressed since i'm admitted to university under condition right now... My parents have been stressing me with this homework more and more.... Feeling anxious about it :(

Uh oh, maybe i've derailed the conversation....feel free to ignore what i said, but you're still welcome to comment... :o

I usually deal with it by worrying about it tomorrow.

:P come on, everyone was thinking it, someone had to say it :P

I suppose I could get around to talking about this, but who cares?

Lol, I have that same problem most of the time.

Whenever I get into a boring class, it seems like I just start procrastionating to a point where I realize that I need to get a load of work done to pass and then I'm like "OMFG!@!@!@!@" and get busy. :)

Luckily, that has been mostly successful and the lowest semester grade I've gotten so far is a B. I'll probably want to start better study habits for when I go to college though.

I've actually found it easier to procrastinate in college than it was in high school, because there's less busy work. But that is DEFINITELY not helping.

Do your work, kids.

Absolutely. Much easier to procrastinate in college, and often doesn't hurt you in a big lecture course with a subject you can nail in your "Oh f*ck" moment. The problem for me was getting used to that habit, then hitting a course I couldn't just cram. Then the "Oh f*ck" moment becomes an "Oh F*CK!" moment ... not pleasant.

You can try to find a balance. Throughout the semester, maybe don't do the work when you're technically supposed to, but DO THE WORK, during whatever time you can make your brain think about it. Then when you're cramming, at least you've seen it before.

(As a side note, if you go to law school, forget about cramming. Painful realization.)
