One thing i cant stand about high school is the teachers that play favorites with other students. My american history teacher this year gave us an essay to do, so i turned it in the day it was due. Three days later i looked at my grades online, and it said that it was missing, i told the teacher, and he said that he "lost" it. we were not allowed to type this essay, so i had to handwrite it in cursive again. I turned it in the next day, and he took 40 points off of my 100 point assignment, because everyday it was late, we would lose 10 points. I talked to him and said that i wanted full credit on that assignment, because it wasnt my fault it was lost. He just rolled his eyes at me.
About four weeks later, some prep girl turned it in, and she got all 100 points. My mom emailed the school about what he did to me, and the fact that he gives other people full credit on assignments when they should receieve zeros, and they just ignored the email. The whole situation brings me to this conclusion, i hate teachers who play favorites with other students! who else agrees with me?

I had a gym teacher in high school who would swoop in like a hawk and yell at us the very instant we stood idle longer than 2 seconds. Meanwhile, he'd be flirting with the cute white girls who didn't even bother to change into their gym clothes much less break a sweat the whole period. "Playing favorites" you say? Maybe he's playing a different game altogether.

I consider teachers just a few steps above mollusks and a few below politicians. Read Thomas Sowell's Inside American Education for more info.

The next step for your parents is to schedule a meeting with the school principal (your teacher's boss) indicating what has transpired, their disapproval, and that is it does not the resolved, they will be going higher up the food chain.

I am wondering if there will be any chance of anything changing however because this will come down to a he says/she says type issue and we all know which side the principal will take.

As for the comment about teachers, not all of them are bad. Most have simply decided that it is easy to side with the system rather than fight it. The only way this will change is when change is forced on it by outside forces.

I really hope that you don't let the actions of the teachers ruin your opinion of all teachers for too long, since there are a lot of amazing teachers out there, especially for upper-level classes (in particular college courses for people that choose to take the subject rather than are forced to).

Anyways, I had one teacher in middle school that was like that. If you weren't in a sports team, he'd consider you worthless. I was the smartest kid in his class, but he almost failed me because I refused to play football (the coaches were all mad at me for being a 6'1" 14 year-old that didn't want to play football).

The worst I experienced was Ms. English (who taught English, of course) in high school. She was fine with everyone in the class except for one kid, simply because he was Puerto Rican with a complexion and facial features that made him look black. She'd ask a question to the class, and when he'd answer, she'd actually start screaming at him "I DIDN'T ASK YOU!" Only took about a month for him to just walk out of the class and switch teacher, but of course, the b***h didn't get fired (yay Wyoming).

Tommorrow i'm going to talk to the woman in charge of special services. I trust her because she was my learning support teacher in junior high, she got promoted when i moved up to the high school. I hope she does something about this situation.

I agree with you completely!! Man what a pickle you are in, I hate educational institutions, they really have a lot of bullying problems and discrimination, and the worst thing is that they are often hard to prove.

I think that is what I hate most about school, when teachers play faveourites.

I hope it works out for you.

i talked to the specail services person, she talked to the teacher, and he just made me exempt from the assignment. The good thing about it was that my grades better than it was when he took those points off. The teacher also got a lecture from the principle, which was funny, im an office aide during my study hall, and the wall between the main office, and the principals office is very thin that i heard the whole thing practically. :lmao: Im not the only one that has reported this teacher for something he did wrong. Other people have complained about him because he just jokes around during class instead of teaching something. the next day he gives us pop quizes about what we learned the day before, and we do horribly on them because he jokes around with the b***h cheerleaders all the time. :ncool:

Blah I don't like teachers that play favourites, even if I am usually the favourite :D

For some reason I was "teachers pet" in PE, because I was bad at it, weird that

Maybe it is a different educational system in Sweden, because I don't feel that there are favourites in class and stuff like that. People are more or less treated equally.

I was the favorite of my science teacher in grade 7 (who was also my religion teacher in grade 7 and 8) but she was a fair teacher and liked me because I was a good student and was genuinely interested in science and religion. :)

Last week i talked to administration, and the teacher got suspended for three days! Sucks to be him, and he's probably going to get it without pay! :D
