The various things I had in the Gymnasium (waits for you all to stop chuckling, it is the name of a form of school in Germany) were: German, Mathematic, English, French, Politics, Art, Music, Physics, Biology, Religion (as elective, philosophy was the alternative which I took as soon as I was old enough to choose), History, Geography and Computer Science. Some were electives and not all at the same time of course, but they all existed. In my Abitur, I took Mathematic, History, English and Computer Science.

Wait wait wait... I'm french (ok half french, the other half being "québécois") and i totally lost you there o.O . Secondary school = ? Because here in Quebec we have secondary grade, which is where most 13 years old start and they end it towards their 18s... Or so. But i know that in the french educationnal system, the "seconde" is the level before the "première" which leads to the "terminale" (after which you theoraticly end up going to .... Huh.... (i don't know ><)

Also, most of what you guys said thus far looks like college (hard for here, because "collège" in french is more or less where the "seconde" grade is) or High school stuff... (like American History...Philosophy and ugh...Latin? o.o >< )

it doesn't really mather , i just need the names of the classes
what i meant is from 12 till 18 or something alike
and yeah it's all different in all different countries

i'd like also more about special courses and the names of different brakes and so (like the fifteen minutes break in the morning in the 'playground?')
also we have sometimes an hour called 'étude' where the pupils are gathered in a big classroom and where they can do homework or any task.
these moments are created to make the schedule possible and every pupil has one or two hours like that a week. could i call it 'study' ?

maybe i can give my schedule in french, since you are canadian i suppose you understand?

Etude du milieu
(math)
(éducation physique)
(anglais)
Etude
(science)
(repas de midi)
(français)
musique
Technique d'expression
Education par la technologie
Méthode de travail
(latin)
(réligion)
Education artistique

and what are the people working in a school called like?
(les sécretaires, la préfète, l'éducateur, le directeur(headmaster), l'homme à tout faire)
and the room where the secretaries gather? (le sécrétariat)

I assume you mean ages 12-18.

We didn't have this during secondary school. We had Physical Education (PE) for 1 hr/day for ages 12-15. I think you're referring to "Recess" which takes place in primary/elementary school.

We didn't have this but I've heard it called "Study Hall".

The head of our (public) school was the Principal. There were also "administrators" and "guidance counsellors", "secretaries", "librarians", "coaches" for the athletic teams, and security personnel. We called the room where they spent lunch/breaks the "teachers' lounge" even though it was used by all the school's personnel.

Hrm, let's see here...

Technique d'expression
Méthode de travail
Etude du milieu

Those are the odd ones to me. Méthode de travail would be more like Methodology and i know there's a lot of different methods depending on what you have to do o.O ... Éducation par la technologie (didn't you mean " de la technologie"?) This is something i can relate to somewhat, basic engineering stuff like knowing how to make the plan of a house? and the different structures of it, right? Étude du milieu (what "milieu" are you talking about? It could be work, environnemental... social o.O etc... , please elaborate). Technique d'expression is the oddest one yet, i can't think of anything remotely close to what i've had to do...

For the titles, i'm not quite sure but i reckon the préfét (or préféte, if it's a girl) is sort of like the head of class (or class president :P ). L'Homme à tout faire is quite litteraly the handyman (usually he can do repairs regarding different things, informatic or whatnot, it can sometimes be someone who cumulates a lot of work related to manual labor, like the janitor, but i could be wrong here ^^; ). L'éducateur, you have to be a bit more clear about what he does, because it could be litterally you (as in, you are educaying kids are you not?), but i have had a psycho-éducateur once (was to help me with my way of studying and studies, since i'm an Aspie). So a bit more details would help.

The fifteen minute break could be seen as recess (or récréation, if you're familiar with the term). As for your "study" term, it is the right translation, but i'd rather call it "free study time" (or some such) "Période d'étude" (study time /period) is also good :) . I reckon Éducation artistique was also called "Arts plastiques" by some (at least that's how i grew with it).

I guess that's all i can say for now :o .
