Anyone having a prom this year? If so are you going? Who are you going with? etc...
I'm having my leaver's prom this june (it was called the dinner dance a few years ago but everyones gone all american-ised) and I'm really excited.
I'm picking out my dress soon. I'm going with my best friend, but I doubt he'll be doing much dancing as he hates discos, oh well. Hopefully I'll be talking to plenty of people and people will be hugging and I'd like to join in for once, but I don't think I'd be the life and soul of the paty or anything but I don't really care as long as it's fun.

MONKEY you are SO lucky - you don't aspie at all. My proms were always a nightmare and I wish I stayed home. Now that I am 22 years old and have some small talk experience under my belt, from work and going to socials events, I could probably pull it off - going to a prom. But when I was your age - NOOOOO WAY!

I never understood why the prom was supposed to be important. I started college at 16 and everyone said, "but you missed your prom!" Well, for someone who has NO friends and NO interest in clothes... I didn't get what they were going on about.

Now, I do like clothes, etc. but then I didn't care. I don't feel like I missed anything.

I'm most likely going to my prom this year. I have an old dress, and will most likely just hang around with the kids I eat lunch with if they're going.

I'm going for something unique or wacky, maybe a retro style dress or alternative/gothy, something that will stick in people memories

What is a "Prom" like?

The only girl I ever asked to the prom laughed in my face, and she and her friends made certain that I never lived it down.

I'm a senior in high school and I have no interest in going to prom.

I've been to one dance with an extracurricular club which I'm a part of, but I hated it - the music was too loud, people kept brushing up against me, and I wanted to leave as soon as I arrived.

I only stayed to watch a guy I know sing Material Girl on karaoke. =)

I never went to any school dances, mostly because they usually play music I don't like (the "dance rap" that's so popular now).

I only went to two functions my senior year: the Senior's end-of-the year party (which I got a free ticket for because I covered it for the school paper) and the post-graduation party (because it was free and it would most likely be the last time i'd see some my friends for 10 years).

My senior prom was awful. I went with my stupid 15 year old girlfriend (who ended up using me to go to prom). The music was also awful after the first 10 songs.
Imagine preppy/jock kids in formal wear dancing stupidly to gangsta rap while your "date" randomly leaves you for 10-20 minutes at a time. That was my prom.
Though I guess there was ONE good aspect of prom...

Hm? If you're talking about the good aspect of prom, that wasn't it.
