I had some jobs before, but since college, all I can get is temp jobs, because all I have had is temp jobs. I have been told this, 'well you haven't worked anything but labor, what makes you think you are qualified for anything else?' by the career center people. They tell me all that matters is my last job, that's all employers look for.

Well the last year, those temp jobs are becoming fewer and farther between. There has been nothing since mid-December and I cannot pay February rent. I have been showing up every day to the Voc Rehab, but they just tell me to apply to jobs online and I always get a rejection letter within minutes (so autoreject). I have asked for more personal help, and they think I need help using the computer. Lol, no. I do not know what to apply for since all the 'entry level highschool' jobs autofilter me. I have a college degree, but have never been able to use it because of the economy. Any which way, it is too late to get a job now, cause February is in 3 days. I am 180 dollars short.

I almost couldn't pay my rent once last summer and the county had a program to pay it once a year. It hasn't been a year yet. I have told my VR counselor that I don't have any money, he suggests I ask people for some. I don't know any people, not well enough to ask them for money. Not related to any living ones either.

So it looks like this is the end. I've been holding on for five years against all odds, making do with every time with less than most people seem to have (based on conversations I overhear). And now it ends.

The homeless shelters cannot accomodate anybody with food allergies. I have started procedings to go on SSI again (I used to have a good job for a long time until the economy crashed) but they are talking over 14 months.

At every step, I asked for other types of referrals, if they new any, but it seems I have exhausted all the paths I could find. Of course, I am absolutely no good at this and I do not know what I am doing. I have just been floating through life, I think, and slipping through every crack at every point. I feel useless and worthless and alone. I don't even know how to be homeless!

My mind is all over the place panicky and I am sure this is a horribly constructed post and I apologize. Also, for locating it in this particular forum--I'm not sure where to put it. I hardly ever post in here 'cause also scared of doing that, but I guess this is making me bold. It's also making me verbose and not very coherent, though, so I apologize for those.

No I have no idea what I'm asking. I don't think there really is any solution, everybody I talk to assumes I have hidden money somewhere I think, based on their answers.

Do you have a resume? Things which highlight skill? You really want to emphasize stuff you can do, your passions, etc.

This is truly a heartbreaking story. I wish I had any actual advice to chip in with.

Is the social safety net really letting you fall through and get evicted? Isn't everyone entitled to social security at least, so you can pay the rent?

my advise is to apply to as many jobs as possible. every single day you should be applying for a ridiculous amount of jobs. maybe you can talk to your landlord personally, and tell him whats going on, and ask him if he can let you have a month off, or a bit of time to repay him without him kicking you out.

What is your degree in? If you have a degree you should be able to, at bare minimum, get a minimum wage job without a problem, just to get some form of income while you search for something better. Do you have any friends or family members that you can live with for the time being, while you sort things out?

I have been applying to anything, degree or minimum, and have received 3 job offers, all which required me to already have a car (none of which required me to drive, I wouldn't have applied for such a thing). All the jobs I get are via the day labor place, hanging out until someone picks me (which happened often, I was a good worker). Cannot save partial minimum wage money--there simply isn't anything left--and it is now the 'dead' part of the year around here.

No friends, no family, the landlord reminded me that this happened last year.

When I typed the post I was actually pretty suicidal (thanks IRC o.O i don't even) and I guess it was something that just had to build up and explode, only to collapse into something harmless.

I will try again tomorrow, and the next day and the next day.

I don't feel so bad anymore though.

Talk to your landlord and ask if there's any work you can do to cover the difference.

And market yourself. Here you have dozens of people reading your post, and none of them know where you live, what your degree is in, what your interests are, what value you can add to a company, etc.

Show us your resume, go through the whole description of yourself and *what you have to offer*.

If you have nothing whatsoever to offer, then something seems wrong.

Surely you can get a fast food job or something, in the worst case. Simply don't mention your degree.

And please read the first link in my sig. Understand it's not intended to discourage you, but rather to motivate you. Become the type of person that employers need and value, and your life will change for the better.

Lie about your college education. Take that off your resume, and never speak of it again. That is what I had to do to get a job.

Take the seperate temp jobs and use only the temporary agency to make it all look like one job.

If you have not worked for a temp agency, then try to get a temp agency job. Temp agencies usually want to put you in companies that eventually make a choice whether to hire you or pass.

180 dollars is not a lot to be behind. Can you shovel walks or something? I do cat sitting for 100 per month. Not a lot, but it pays a portion of the rent.

Would you wash dishes, work till 4 am? A lot of jobs that have less than desireable situations, like strange hours, or nasty, dirty jobs, like sorting cans at a recyclers often have openings. They can be interesting jobs.
