Do you know any AS people or even classically autistic in the broadcasting industry either on or off camera. Do you think anyone with AS or classic ASD who works in broadcasting is limited to only small markets? Just wondering what it's like for someone like this in the industry. I think it would be cool to be an announcer/voiceover for local TV stations in the US, but that's too narrow now.

I do not see why an Aspie could not do that job well. A lot is that job is following scripts and acting. The hardest would be DJ where interviews needed to be done but even that can be partially scripted. Newsreader is mostly script.

The problems for those on the spectrum would be the same as for we have in other careers networking, office politics etc.

I certainly hope it's doable considering my long-term career goal is to be a video/ TV producer. Then again, it's easier for me to get along with crazy people than normals and entertainment is just saturated with crazies, so networking shouldn't be too difficult.

The guy in the Anchorman series appears to have some Aspie traits, despite his superficial social deftness.

I do radio every week and have done for years. I have done some TV stuff as well but I look a bit awkward. I am not involved in the broadcasting industry, instead I am a talking head on foreign affairs. Although I have worked as a press secretary.

I'm looking into getting into television broadcasting I know a tech degree and/or a degree in communications is needed for the area that I'm looking to get into (operations). Failing that I'd just be happy to get my foot into the door by answering phones and/or working in programming or do I dare say traffic?
