Any who own or help run internet businesses?..post here
Hello,
I've set up my own business coaching fellow Aspies in how to better get along - in school, with friends and neighbors, on the job, dating, etc - in an NT-dominated world, and I coach NTs who want to better understand the Aspies in their lives.
I also give presentations to groups of Aspies on social skills, and to groups like employers, service providers and first responders on how to better recognize and work with Aspies.
TheHaywire, you seem quite creative, judging from your website. Good luck to you!
SmallFruitSong, you certainly have a point about competitors. Do you think your better skills can help you beat the competition?
Hartzofspace, thanks for the idea of selling on Amazon! Is it more lucrative than eBay, on average?
TheDuck, how do you draw visitors to your sites?
Have a great day!

Sorry, I don't know the answer to that, since I've never sold anything on E-bay.

TheDuck, how do you draw visitors to your sites?
At the start I posted on forums banners and traffic sharing websites and google ads. After trial and error I realized that almost all paid for services are junk. The only one that's worth it is google ads. Now I get my most of my visits from google (I have a few keywords ranked 1) and direct visitors also get a few hundred from people sharing on forums or face book ect... My website has been featured in the media like the NYT so that helped a lot.
And amazon is good if your not in a rush to sell your things (well at least in Canada) I have sold a few books and games for more than I would have gotten on Ebay but it took months every time (probably a lot faster in the US).

The business was started because I was a musician that got mobbed out of my genre and was therefore unable to get signed to any of the established labels. I had a vision for alternative music that was not yet out there and decided to give it a go. I started releasing my own music on my label and signing similar artists whose music I enjoyed. I found an investor who believed in my vision, respected my determination, and was able to handle my quirks. We are going into co-ownership this month. Since people no longer buy physical albums I decided the record label would also be a modeling agency. We're now in the step of networking with clothing designers. Eventually we're going to throw events involving live bands and fashion shows. We hope to become a leading alt-culture business by 2012.
I like you site!
It's fun, colorful, and straightforward. And it asks for the sale, which is the number one thing a salesperson/businessperson needs to do.
And I compliment you on your business partnership and your new venture. The only thing I might recommend is to keep light on your feet. Try a variety of things. Some will work out and some won't, both for reasons partially predictable and partially not!
One advantage we Aspies might have. Well, people who have been popular all their life just assume that things will work out. We have gotten some practice thinking through a situation (and feeling through a situation, equally important). Speaking as a writer, if someone interprets a piece of my writing in a direction I never anticipated, okay, alright---although future pieces I may come at from a different direction, for I do wish to communicate.
Good luck with everything and please drop us a line from time to time.

Have a good dig through my MsBehaviour Files at the Big Idea as I have covered lots of tools for creatives to work from home and sell online.

I've been earning most of my money online for well over ten years. It can be done. For music I recommend Cd Baby.net, handmade items Etsy.com, Tshirts Zazzle.com and for books etc. Lulu.com
PM me for more advice.

Thank you asplint and AardvarkGoodSwimmer. That's really just an intro page of what's to come. I've been at this for a while. Nothing better to do really... and it's not like anyone will hire me hehe.
I'm interested in making money blogging like MsBehaviour does too. People have been reading my writing for a while so I might as well make some cash along the way. Unfortunately I'm a bit behind in social media. I had trouble keeping up after twitter.
