Oh yes, cashiering sucks! Every job I had was a cashier in some aspect, and when I worked at Wal-Mart I would get in my car and cry every night from stress. It was too much. Yes, I will bag ammonia and bleach seperately because I don't want it to spill and mix in someone's car, the resulting vapor killing or injuring the people inside. Yes, I will put your produce in with your raw meat, but I will double bag and tie up the meat first. Yes I will take time to bag frozens and fridges together because I TOOK A HEALTH CLASS. All of this was a problem there. Anywho.

As for your IPM or IPH, do they have a way to pause the machine? They did on ours, and when my ex worked at HEB. (Grocery store down here in Texas)

The best job (and longest I've held) was actually doing cleaning for movie theatre. Everything needs to be cleaned quickly and well, which can be stressful in the right circumstances. However, if you can get dayshift where there are less people to clean up after, it's not too bad at all. Customers don't usually bother you either.

They do. If you press "total" it stops the count. Another cashier there showed me. Thanks for the tip though.

The thing I notice with full-service cashiering is that there are 3 distinct aspects of the job that have to be juggled - accurately entering the item price, socializing with the customer, and packing the items in the manner the customer wants.
All this is very tricky for me. Although I am starting to get used to it.
