the gist of what they said, was that if one is sufficiently high-functioning/well-adapted/socialized, that one could probably be seen as nothing worse than the odd duck. I myself was in the military back in the 80s, they did a psych waiver to get me in even though in my records it said I was both schizotypal as well as autistic [different shrinks]. I managed one hitch in the medical corps but neither mr. army nor me wanted to go any longer than that. I would not have survived one day in the infantry. in retrospect I encountered many aspie-ish servicemembers when I was in. I knew they were odd ducks and they knew I was an odd duck as well.
