I worked at a WalMart store & we were very short-handed at times but we never had mandatory overtime. We were allowed to make overtime if we wanted to when we were very short-handed which I usually did. I worked longer hours & I even came in on one of my off days a lot. I was on SSI at the time & for every $2 I made gross they deducted $1 of my SSI so I didn't come out that much ahead by working unless I was making more than what SSI pays. I was dealing with a depression & I was dealing with that & other life things by being a workaholic. I'm also very eager to please & wanted to prove myself & help out cuz I cared. I eventually burned myself out but some of that is because management was on my back alot & kept pulling me off & then upset that the stuff our department was supposed to be doing was not getting done.
