I'm very different from you on this, apparently.

Due to my difficulties shifting my attention abruptly from one task to another, I don't want someone to just go ahead and ask me a question, if they were not already talking to me. I want them to get my attention first (e.g. by saying my name, or by saying something like "Hey, do you have a second?", OR by saying something like "I have a question") and then pause and make sure they have my attention before asking their actual question. Thus my attention is broken gradually, rather than abruptly.

I wish you wouldn't put your responses inside my quote; it's implied that I said those things, which I didn't and wouldn't have.

Slovenliness is a choice.

I don’t mind, “Excuse me,” “Can you help me with something,” or “Do you have a second?” There’s just something about the phrase, “I have a question,” that sets my teeth on edge.

For the record, the proper term is not Ebonics, it’s African American Vernacular English, and it’s a legitimate dialect.

I had to learn that one the hard way. I’m a recovering grammar snob and needed to be called out on my racism, classism, and xenophobia.

Super fast talking/gibberish, use of abbreviations without explanation like they assume you psychically know what they're talking about, when co-workers "conveniently" swoop in and steal tips meant for you. Happened last night and I taught the little snake a lesson by leaving her two bowls full of food when I bussed the table and she pretended to be working, moving in on my customers. Then I fake smiled and casually said, "looks like it's time for me to clock out!" and let her clean up the rest. Those tips were meant to be mine and I heard the woman comment to her toddler daughter on how hard I was working, triple the effort of my co-workers. And that girl just decided to sneakily take credit.

The air-conditioning simply MUST be set to no less than 82°F...

... because otherwise the one woman in the office complains of being cold.

Passive-aggressive types who "play games"... like asking you to do some meaningless task for no reason other than to see if you'll jump to it and do what you're told. Or who praise your performance to your face and then spread malicious gossip behind your back. Or who get told your diagnosis in confidence and then use threat of disclosure to keep you compliant. Or use it as reason to disregard your opinion whenever it clashes with theirs. Etc etc.

Clique behavior, talking as if I'm not in the room.

The 3 management styles mentioned.

When someone tells me or emails me to reach out to another person about something. I'm like what's the point, why can't you reach out to that person directly? It takes just as much time to reach out to me and to ask me to reach out to that person as it is to do it yourself, not to mention you'll probably be better at communicating than I can.

I suppose the only legitimate circumstance for these logistics is if I'm on a much better rapport with the person being reached out to but that's rarely the case, as an Aspie myself.

Nothing is more counterproductive than a boss who cannot make or stick to decisions he's made. Also, workers who come in utterly unprepared for the day's work and have to borrow everything just to function.

Pressure to form social relationships with other employees. No, they are not my friends, and I am not looking to make them so. I have no interest in their lives and do not want to be quizzed about mine. I am only here for the paycheck. I can and will do a damn good job, but part of what makes me able to get so much work done is that I don't spend half the day gossiping about personal stuff.

No, I don't want to eat lunch with other employees. No, I don't want to attend social events. No, I don't want to go down the pub after work, or spend parts of my weekend at barbecues. And no, I don't want to sit within earshot of people who can't keep quiet. (I'm perfectly fine with them having a need to gabble away all day long; just put something soundproof between us.)

On the topic of noise and constant interruptions, too: open-plan offices. Christ on a banana do I ever hate those.

Lazy slackers who constantly complain about racism when asked to do more so they get away with doing less. Then I'm expected to work harder to make up for them slacking off because I cant claim racism cuz I'm the majority race. I know racism is a major problem & I don't have a problem with most people who are minorities. Some were very good workers & I liked working with them. I just have a problem with the specific people who use the word racism as an excuse to be lazy.
Another problem with those people is that they complained I was acting like a boss whenever I asked em questions about what they were doing or not doing cuz their work affected what I did. They would tell me to do various things but the moment I asked em about what they were doing I was acting like a boss.
The joke was on them cuz I eventually outranked em & was the one in charge of the department when my supervisor & his backup weren't around. I had been doing alot to help out & working extra when allowed & my supervisors & management didn't like the way those slackers acted like bosses when my supervisors weren't around.

I hate it when cliques form between some of the office workers.

It's a bit like that where I am now since we only have one full time employee who is not related to the rest of us.
