I'm very different from you on this, apparently.
Due to my difficulties shifting my attention abruptly from one task to another, I don't want someone to just go ahead and ask me a question, if they were not already talking to me. I want them to get my attention first (e.g. by saying my name, or by saying something like "Hey, do you have a second?", OR by saying something like "I have a question") and then pause and make sure they have my attention before asking their actual question. Thus my attention is broken gradually, rather than abruptly.
I don’t mind, “Excuse me,” “Can you help me with something,” or “Do you have a second?” There’s just something about the phrase, “I have a question,” that sets my teeth on edge.
