Do not listen to the naysayers.

The amoral tone of the book is meant to show you how you are being manipulated, to help you enter into the mind of the power-hungry.

I own this book, and it is well-thumbed.

Nothing has helped me take control of my life like this set of rules. It helped me to finally realize that there is true evil in the world, and we are responsible to resist it.

At the end of the book Greene talks about Sparta, pretty much the first fascist state, whose hunger for power destroyed them, leaving nothing of them but a few stories.

We all need to read this.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll have to read it now.

I found a link for a free copy of this e-book. It is 24.2Mb so it takes several minutes to open.

THAT's a good way to look at this - and I'd read it from that point of view. That is, if I can stomach it! That kind of blatant evil angers me to the core....

Absolutely! Surely these are meant as humour?

What's worrying is that these rules would best be followed by a sociopath or psycopath. Are we really to believe that those in power are all sociopaths? 8O

I suspect that would be correct.

Only thing is, onc you get as far to the top as you can get, and you've kept no friends and intentionally made enemies just for the purpose of manipulation, and the only people come knocking are those who want something from you, what do you do then? (and yeah, I know the book's meant as a guide to help you see through those tricks)

I'll have to read this, considering that AS's are generally perceived as being naive... I know I can be sometimes.

Just enjoy the power, I guess.

Thing is, I remember hearing somewhere that Alexander the Great became depressed once he conquered the entire known world. "There are no more lands to conquer." I think Napoleon did too. I heard of Donald Trump admitting one time that his money didn't really satisfy him. Despite being solitary in nature, even I feel the need to have friends and family to share my life with. My point being, once they get up there, they'll only end up feeling very poor.

Totally got it. I read it and saw my abusive former boss'es face from 1-48. These cats are real trouble for Aspies. If you work for a jerk like 1-48, run for your life!

Teehee - love your Run for your Life avatar.

OK - I have a book: "Making Work Work for the Highly Sensitive Person". Great book! Works for Aspies - and if you can't make it work where you're at - RUN! Working as a "picked on" will only make your life worse - much much worse! And the worse it is, the worse your Aspie stuff will become! A lose/lose deal - get out of the job...

I was raised on a farm - and those darn chickens (so delicious - yummy!)actually had a pecking order! I would kick the dominant chicken if my gramma wasn't looking. I always felt lke the poor girl with the feathers pecked out of her head and neck, and maybe the whole body. That poor chicken had to be removed from the general coop, or she would die...

I think 48 rules is a bit much. It does let you know what you have to fake, though...;)
As for the book copy, I get XML errors. Any other site you can find that at?
