Being somebody's phone-b*tch is no fun...

I've had meltdowns in school more times that I can count...
Seriously, there are sometimes when you just can't help it.
You should warn your next employer that you have AS, and then if they fire you because of a meltdown, sue them for discrimination against your disability.

It's a double-edge sword. Disclosing can be used against you in a way that looks like you f--ked up. I've been there. I've experienced discrimination.

UPDATE:

HR is still deliberating. I was able to give my side of the story. The fact that it's taking so long tells me that Legal may be concerned that they have a potential lawsuit on their hands. At least HR had the kindness to call me at BitterGeek HQ instead of asking me to burn up $12 worth of gas driving to the campus.

HR has been interviewing co-workers as part of their investigation. I believe they interviewed the coworkers that were aware of my AS and ADD.

Here is an idea. We all go to work for IKEA testing furniture. Nobody will even notice we have blow ups. We'll get RAISES for busting stuff instead of fired!

I have a meltdown and bust up a bar stool and I get in trouble. Steve Ballimer the CEO of Microsoft throws a chair at Mark Lucovsky when he told Monkey Boy that he's leaving Microsoft for Google. Ballimer gets to keep his job. I'm in the wrong career or should be working in Microsoft's CxO suite. I think I'll send my resume to BillG. Or I could do the IT at Orange County Choppers where throwing stuff when frustrated is encouraged.

I think they can only give...wage you were making, job title, time periods you were working there and MAYBE if you left by choice or were fired<---I'm just not sure on that one. They are not supposed to go into details of the incident...that should be protected information but sometimes people Do tell.

HR won't tell if you were fired, but they can say if the company would hire you again. Most HR people won't touch that, either. They mostly give job title and periods worked. Some give the wage while others consider that too sensitive. Anything that could get the company sued is blocked.

If a prospective employer gets your former manager's name, they can track that person down and get "off the record" data and opinions. You may not get to respond to it. Most employment applications allow you to state that they may NOT contact a former manager. Also, giving the manager's name is optional. Give them the head of HR instead. I tell people my employment agreement bars me from giving that information. Some places have turned me down, some appreciate my integrity.

If you have another job lined up, what if you offer your resignation in exchange for a month's pay?
