I'm not sure that is legal. Did they offer you the job contingent on taking the physical?

yes. i was told at interview that if i passed the physical AND a check of sex offender registry then i would be offered employment.

since we work alone on shifts, they want to make sure we arent diabetic or seizure prone or black out prone.

I got degree and a starting salary over $130,000/year. Many people did respect me and some got jealous. When I was mopping floors as a living, most people didn't respect me and/or thought I was lazy or dumb but no-one was jealous. Now that I don't have a job, I'm not sure as I haven't told many people. Sometimes I feel like you can't win. If you succeed people will try to put you down or get jealous of you, if you don't succeed many people will think you're useless. Maybe it's just the people around me or the system around me that makes people like this?

One thing about this thread about people claiming healthcare should have volunteers is that people have NO idea how hard healthcare workers work in a hospital(I work in one).

I would NOT do this for free EVER. Why should health care workers have to work for lower wages? Why not make other professions work for lower wages? Why not have more volunteers working cash registers at walmart ect. Hey, all you computer engineers out there. Why don't you focus on orienting your career towards helping people???

Health care really is no different. If people really wanted to just help people, they could do it just as effectively doing my job as a transporter/emt vs going through 4 brutal years of schooling to become a Nurse. What motivates them to go through Nursing/Doctors? Getting a better pay check. Should that be the SOLE motivation? Of course not! I think if they truley enjoy and have an interest in HELPING people just like engineers have an interest in engineering, then they should also pursue it.

If someone screams at you and verbally abuses you, doesn't give you a loan for a car because you have no collateral or calls you a loser, or lazy, etc. wouldn't that bother you?

People don't take me seriously because I'm self-employed. Apparently they think this is another term for "unemployed" rather than a conscious decision related to bettering my life. I sure make good money for an unemployed person. :P

Don't say you're self employed. Say you're an entrepreneur.

What kind of job did you have that paid $130000/year, and how did you get so lucky? I have an associate's degree in liberal arts, going for a bachelor's in business administration, and I'll be lucky if I can ge4t a job that pays at least $35000/year!
