A certain type of ignorant person in the workplace invariably rejects me for not being 'normal' enough so rather than humiliate myself by continually trying to be nice to them I will stop making any effort towards them and try to avoid them where possible.

So it's not arrogance it's more a 'f**k you' attitude towards disrespectful people. In the past I used to get really upset about this kind of person (of whom there are invariably a number in any work place) but these days I make no further effort to be friendly to them, I'm just civil and if the opportunity arises to undermine them without blame coming back on me I will take it, as in my opinion this type of person deserves what's coming to them!

Sometimes there can be an advantage in being rejected as it gives you nothing to lose in terms of being able to tell it like it is. If you've already been rejected you don't have to fear ostracisation off these people - they're too stupid to work this one out though!

It's a common perception of Aspies. I think the reason is just because we don't observe all the NT niceties.

When I try to act like NT at work they laugh at me. I'm not good at faking it, and it's grade school all over again. However when I don't fake it and just go along normally then people call me stupid ret*d, etc. They say females are supposedly better at faking NT behavior but I have not been able to, and so distancing myself from co-workers makes me appear to be arrogant.

Being female may not allow more nt parroting behavior. If we show spectrum behaviors nts brand us as self defeating.

Why are NTs such jerks in work situations?
Don't they know, we will soon OUTNUMBER them?

Where did you see/read/hear that NT's will soon be outnumbered?

No one has ever said that I was "arrogant," but I frequently suspect that's how people perceive me. It's hard for me to let little things go uncorrected. If someone is telling a story and mentions a minor detail that isn't right, most people let it go. I have to step in and say something. I suspect things like this make me look like a know-it-all, but that's never the way I intend it.

This is the worst when people are talking about politics, because there's always so much spin. People seem more willing to make blanket statements when they are supporting a political candidate or policy. (Yes, I just made a blanket statement about people that make blanket statements.)
