I've just turned twenty three, and I have no idea what career to follow. I did my A levels (English, History, Psychology and Drama) and got a degree in English. I thought I wanted to be a teacher, so I took a PGCE course, but it was so stressful I don't think I could cope with it long term.
Now my brain is in panic mode, as I need to decide what job I want or I'm going to run out of money soon, but my brain refuses to provide any good ideas.

From what Ive read on WP the women who are happy in their jobs are library archivists. IT is also a popular choice, or doing academic research.

this Jung test has good suggestions for jobs (fill it in then follow the links for jobs when you get the result).

You sound a lot like me. I'm 25 with a liberal arts degree. At one time, I had some career goals but now I have no idea what to do anymore. My advice? If you need an income right now, just think about jobs, not careers. Right now, I make money selling stuff on Ebay. It's not a "career" but it enables me to earn a little. It's hard to make a good career decision under pressure, I think.

Feel free to PM me if you want to toss ideas around, 'cause I'm in the same boat.

Well, do something that you can enjoy and have fun with. Don't end up doing things that you can't handle and not enjoy and get fired from. Having a job is all about the passion and not for the finance. Well in some cases, money and passion can be mixed together. But you have to do something you can enjoy so you won't have to change jobs so often. This is all I can say.

Trying to add some humor, but I agree with this statement I read on a list of "Top 10 Things You Wish You Could Say At Work But Can't."

I thought I wanted a career. Turns out all I really wanted was paychecks.

I'm 24, have a liberal arts degree as well, and really don't know what to do for a career or with my life. I just get jobs for the sake of getting a paycheck, whenever I can get jobs that is.

How about teaching english to adults abroad? I have a friend who used to do that when the school kids fried his brain.

I'm not in the profession myself so don;t know where he got his jobs from but he was always finding work abroad and went to some interesting places. Also, he was dealing with adults so it wasn't as stressful and he was moving around enough to keep life interesting.

If you're single with no ties then why not see some of the world?
