I would like to start this with the quote of the day (in my life):

"the people here are not out to break you"

I got a job in Korea after a long time looking elsewhere.

I am the only westerner in my research group and I don't speak Korean.

I do research at a University.

Am I screwed? Anything but.

I am surrounded by warmth, understanding and help. It's absurd. I don't have a "communication problem" any more. This society is so pure. The cultural differences feel like cultural norms (for me) here.

I don't feel like I am in some struggle, I feel like I am in an understanding community.

Most of the westerners here are English teachers, they get in cliques, it may form divisions and cultural lines. But screw that, this is a collectivist culture and one that is very accepting in my experience. The people here are good. Life here is good. Lines are well defined. Purpose is the dominant factor rather than domination itself (though you have to understand your place). It doesn't creep on you if you understand it. Such purity and clarity. Not like a slipping noose.

I have read about it before on these pages.

I think Korea is Aspie friendly. Many people were telling me about how "good" Korea is but I did not understand until I came here. So many people say that. It sounds like such a soft punch for a convincing argument but this place is absurdly good.

Any other Aspies that lived in Korea? How do you find the Korean people and the society?

People around me saying things I do not understand but I feel no stress about it, for a change.

Lost, to wits end? Crushed, broken? Check out Korea guys, I think they would appreciate your skills, dedication and sincerity.

Good kind people who believe in good.

I know it sounds vague but something is seriously right here.

From what I've heard, Korea, Japan, and to some extent business level China are extremely Aspie friendly.
